Generali CEE Holding celebrates 10 years of its existence!

This week Generali CEE Holding will become 10 years “old” as the company was officially registered on 30th January 2008. Ten years is both a long time and a very short time. Compared to our Group’s history of nearly 190 years, Generali CEE Holding is still adolescent. But if we focus on the achievements within this period, this anniversary is definitely worthy to be celebrated. Let´s recall the most important milestones of Generali CEE Holding.

    10 July 2007

The Generali PPF Holding Joint Venture agreement was signed, whereby Assicurazioni Generali and PPF Group agreed to transfer their insurance assets in the CEE region to the new venture, establishing it as one of the major players in the region.

    30 January 2008

As a result Generali PPF Holding was founded, a joint venture between Generali (with a 51% stake) and PPF Group (49%). For five years PPF and Generali worked together to create one of the biggest players in the Central and Eastern European insurance market with a presence in 14 countries. Generali PPF Holding as a legal entity started working immediately. Ladislav Bartoníček became CEO of the Generali PPF Holding.

    April 2009

Generali PPF Holding launches global Generali brand in Russia.

    January 2013

PPF and Generali agreed that Generali would buy PPF’s 49% stake in Generali PPF Holding. After January 2013 Generali Group held 76 % of Generali PPF Holding shares, with PPF Group holding the remaining 24 %.

    28 March 2013

Luciano Cirinà succeeded Ladislav Bartoníček in the role of CEO of Generali PPF Holding. This represents an important step towards the full management control of the Holding in Central-Eastern Europe, following the Group’s agreement with PPF Group announced in January.

    October 2013

Head office of Generali PPF Holding moved from PPF Gate building in Prague 6 to Prague 4, Na Pankráci.

    16 January 2015

Generali finalizes the acquisition of GPH full ownership. Company name changed into Generali CEE Holding - Generali attained 100% ownership of Generali PPF Holding B.V. (GPH) by acquiring the remaining 24% minority shareholding held by PPF Group, in line with the agreements signed in 2013. With the acquisition of the full ownership of GPH, the holding company operating in Central and Eastern Europe changed its name to Generali CEE Holding B.V.

    1 January 2018

New regional setup has been established. Austria and Russia joined the CEE Region in order to strengthen the role of the CEE Regional Office in Prague. Following the new organizational structure of the Generali Group the “CEE Region” has been renamed “Austria, CEE & Russia Region”.

CEO of Generali CEE Holding and Austria, CEE & Russia Regional Officer Luciano Cirinà commented: “Over the past ten years the company has reached great achievements. I have been privileged to follow on such an excellent job done by my predecessors and also to cooperate with such experts that have been working in this company throughout these years. I am proud to be a part of it and I am sure that with this kind of spirit we will be even more successful in the future.”
