    Generali pioneering travel insurance awarded

Generali travel insurance, which guarantees the payment of compensation without formalities in the event of a sharp drop in temperature or rainfall, was recognized by Gazeta Ubezpieczeńowa as the Innovation of the Month in July 2021.

Generali was awarded for the pioneering offer of parametric insurance on the Polish market.

In July and August 2021, Generali's customers were able to extend their holiday insurance for compensation in the event of a bad weather. This new, tested policy applies to holidays in the Mediterranean countries and is possible thanks to the cooperation of the insurer with the startup Climatica - specializing in the so-called parametric insurance. For the client who decides to participate in this pilot program, this means an automatic payment of compensation in the event of a sharp drop in temperature or rainfall during their dream holidays in Greece, Spain, Turkey or Italy. Compensation will be paid without filling in forms or appraisal, directly on the account and on the next day.

„In Generali, we try to think outside the box and always look for solutions that set the direction for the market. I am glad that it has been noticed and appreciated. We are satisfied primarily with the fact that the tested technology brings tangible benefits to our customers. We are not able to influence the weather, but we can try to compensate for the inconvenience caused by rain or a shortage of sun during the long-awaited vacation.” -emphasizes Bartosz Kwieciński, Managing Director of Marketing and Direct Sales at Generali Polska.

The price of such insurance depends on the date and the exact direction of travel and ranges from PLN 50 to PLN 100 for a seven-day trip. The customer can receive PLN 350 for each day with moderate rainfall, i.e. a minimum of 5 mm per hour during the day, or when the temperature does not reach 20 degrees.

The weather supplement to Generali insurance is possible thanks to the innovative solutions of the Climatica startup. The company is backed by the Daftcode technology group and uses advanced artificial intelligence models to analyze weather phenomena, assess the damage and then pay the compensation as soon as possible.
