Generali Real Estate acquires yet another landmark office building in central Warsaw
08 November 2018
Prague – Generali Real Estate, through Generali Real Estate Fund CEE*, has completed from S+B Gruppe AG the acquisition of Senatorska 18, a prime historical office building located in Warsaw’s central business district, also known as Jabłonowski Palace.
The operation follows Generali Real Estate’s recent acquisition of another asset located in the same area of the Polish capital, Plac Małachowskiego.
The former City Hall of Warsaw, Senatorska 18 was built in 1773, and then rebuilt in 1997 after being destroyed during World War II. It is located in one of the city’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, in front of the Grand Theatre and at a close distance from the Old Town.
Blending historical architecture with modern efficiency, the asset offers 17,700 square metres of office spaces over five above ground floors, and is currently occupied by mBank, one of the largest banks in Poland.
This operation is in line with Generali Real Estate’s strategy of investing in the main European cities, with a focus on prime office, high street retail and retail assets.
It also testifies once more the company’s increasing focus on both Central and Eastern Europe, where Generali Real Estate currently manages a portfolio worth over €800 million, and the city of Warsaw.
